Satura® RejuveGel: Results of the 12-Week Observation (2016)

In short: In a 12-week observation by Medicine UK Ltd (2016), 25 people with thinning hair took Satura® RejuveGel capsules daily. Hair density, measured with a device, was on average about 10 hairs per cm² (around 6 %) higher after 12 weeks than at the start. The observation had no comparison group – so the results should be read as an observation, not as proof of effect.

Who carried out the observation?

  • Testing institute: Medicine UK Ltd, Bushey Heath (United Kingdom)
  • Commissioned by: GZ Laboratories (UK) Ltd, manufacturer of Satura®
  • Period: 8 February to 17 May 2016
  • Approved by: the institute’s dermatology and trichology specialists

How was it carried out?

  • Participants: 25 people (12 men, 13 women) aged 27 to 61, average age 43, all with thinning hair
  • Use: 6 capsules daily for 12 weeks; no other products with a similar purpose were allowed during this time
  • Measurement: trichological measurement before and after the 12 weeks with the ARAMO SG device and Trichoscience software, at controlled room temperature and humidity
  • Measured: hair density (hairs per cm²) and scalp oiliness (scale from 1 = very low to 5 = very high)

The results

MeasurementBeforeAfter 12 weeks
Hair density, average of all 25 people172.4 hairs/cm²182.6 hairs/cm²
People with higher hair density24 of 25 (in one person the value fell from 225 to 217 hairs/cm²)
Scalp oilinessmostly level 4–5mostly level 3–4

According to the report, no one experienced scalp irritation during the 12 weeks.

What the observation does not show

  • There was no placebo comparison group. Hair density varies naturally – for example with the season. So it cannot be said with certainty how much of the change is due to the capsules.
  • The observation was commissioned by the manufacturer and has not been published in a scientific journal.
  • With 25 people, the group is small.

We still show the data because we believe you should know what is behind a product – even when the evidence is limited.

What is in the capsules?

Sugar kelp (Saccharina latissima), corn oil, Irish moss extract, bladder wrack (Fucus vesiculosus), olive oil, rosehip seed oil, carotene, vitamin E. Capsule shell: gelatine, glycerine, sorbitol, potassium sorbate.

Note on iodine: Sugar kelp and bladder wrack naturally contain iodine. If you have a thyroid condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, please check with your doctor before use.
