DSD de Luxe 9.4 aminopyrrole and melatonin hair loss treatment lotion packaging and ampoule

Aminopyrrole + melatonin: the actives of Lotion 9.4

Lotion 9.4 Aminopyrrole + Melatonin by DSD de Luxe is a scalp lotion in ampoules for thinning hair and increased hair shedding. It combines the active Kopyrrol in liposomes with melatonin, placenta protein, amino acids and niacinamide. Here you will find out what lies behind these ingredients and which studies exist on them. These are cosmetics – with sudden or severe hair loss, please have the cause checked by a doctor.

Kopyrrol in liposomes

Kopyrrol (INCI: Pyrrolidinyl Diaminopyrimidine Oxide) is a cosmetic active for the care of the scalp and hair roots. According to the manufacturer, Lotion 9.4 contains it at a concentration of 6.7 %. Together with amino acids it is encapsulated in liposomes – tiny lipid vesicles that deliver the actives to the scalp and release them gradually.

Melatonin

Many people know melatonin as the sleep hormone. In hair care it is used as an antioxidant that protects the hair roots from oxidative stress. In a randomised, placebo-controlled pilot study with 40 women, a melatonin solution (0.1 %) applied once daily for six months significantly increased the proportion of hairs in the growth phase (anagen) [1]. A 2012 review summarises further studies: in a multicentre observation with more than 1,800 participants, the share with a clearly positive hair pull test fell from 61.6 % to 7.8 % after three months [2]. Tolerability was good in all studies, and the body's own melatonin level remained unchanged with evening application.

Placenta protein, amino acids and niacinamide

Placenta protein and a blend of amino acids supply building blocks of keratin and care for the hair roots. Niacinamide (vitamin B3) supports the protective barrier of the scalp, while vitamin E and phospholipids provide additional protection and care.

Results with Lotion 9.4

In a user study with 46 participants, the number of falling hairs dropped by 71 % after 56 days and hair diameter increased by 2.7 %. Learn more about the actives in our article Saw palmetto, caffeine, Capixyl™ & co.
